RELUCTANT ENTREPRENEUR
“I responded to the gravity of an invisible moon at my core, and I undertook journeys I had not expected to take.” Mohsin Hamid
RELUCTANT ENTREPRENEUR
As a Reluctant Entrepreneur, the off the cliff, no safety net life of the entrepreneur can be terrifying. The Reluctant Entrepreneur seeks safety and is also called to innovate and create. The tension between this push and pull can be quite painful. Upside down suspension is not comfortable, though the perspective can be illuminating. It takes strength to look at things in a new way, especially under duress. Embrace your reluctance, consider what it is teaching you and how it is keeping you safe. And when the time is right, and you are no longer suspended, stand by your choice.
Hanged Man
The Hanged Man in tarot is remarkably relaxed for being suspended upside down by the ankle. In addition to the value we can derive from another perspective where we are unsure how to proceed, there are also physical benefits to the body being upside down for a limited time. Following the introspection of the Hermit and the decisive discernment of Justice, the Hanged Man patiently waits. “Good things come to those who wait” is rarely said to those who are comfortable waiting, though the Hanged Man indicates that now may not be the time to take action because both timing and approach may be significant. The caterpillar does not get to skip the cocoon before becoming a butterfly; certain recipes are not palatable if they don’t marinate. There is a lesson in this suspension or lack of motion that you will need for what is next.
Questions to consider:
- How is reluctance serving and protecting you?
- How might yielding or non-action support you in this situation?
- What insights come up when you look at your situation another way?
- What if delay and acceptance are just part of the process?
