DRIVE
“There is no luck in business. Only drive, determination, and more drive.” Sophie Kinsella
DRIVE
Drive, focus, and determination, while important to succeed in business in general, are essential for the entrepreneur. For the Reluctant Entrepreneur, if drive is what’s missing or it seems like there is too much horsepower, it can seem easier not to start than to start on a ride that could end with the driver being thrown off and permanently injured. There is a freedom and beauty in watching wild horses run that is different from the containment, discipline, and focus of a horse on the track. Determining which type of drive is most appropriate for the business context, as well as your energy expenditure, is important. Whether a horse or vehicle, Drive requires respect and partnership to ensure safety and successful outcomes with a vehicle more powerful than its driver. While the term, drive, is associated with progression forward, consider the importance of rest, flow, or coasting. Ease up on the pedals or the horse for a smoother and more sustainable ride.
Chariot
While many of the cards in tarot point to light or dark (and have their place as an essential part of The Fool’s Journey), the Chariot combines these elements into ambitious, driven, visionary, integration and forward movement. When balancing what can feel like opposing yet important factors (such as work and life, push and pull, conscious and unconscious, masculine and feminine), there’s a duality that needs to be both fed and balanced for the Chariot to move forward towards its destination. The concept of being driven is characteristically associated with assertion or pushing forward, though the Chariot pulls the driver. Consider this duality of both the push and the pull as a collective way of moving forward. The Chariot is a powerful card, generally associated with winning and victory. Leverage your drive, and also be aware that this level of passion and commitment can lead to exhaustion. Align yourself with your Chariot, so you aren’t trying to balance on horses going in different directions or trying to move horses that don’t want to move.
Questions to consider:
- What factors need to be attended to and balanced to support your movement forward?
- What are you driving towards or away from?
- Which component of the Chariot are you in this phase of your life or business?
- What care and maintenance does your business need for optimal and sustainable performance?
