BALANCE
“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.” Jana Kingsford
BALANCE
The concept of balance, whether work life balance or another form, is often one of the most difficult for anyone wanting quality of life in multiple aspects. Balance, the lack thereof, or the pressure that there isn’t balance is often made more difficult for the entrepreneur who may not have support, work, or funding to fall back on. Balance is often considered a static and unattainable point; even if achieved, then difficult if not impossible to maintain. However, when considering balance on a paddleboard or creating with clay, it is a relationship with an objective, water, stability, and motion. These examples illustrate balance as an integration and flow with elements, instead of an improbable or unattainable fixed point. Balance is necessary for sustainability and quality of life.
Temperance
After Death, Temperance offers a sense of peace through integration and balance. This pause to rest and reflect on what is important is essential not only for quality of life and experience, but in preparation for the journey ahead. Temperance is the combination of elements that can be considered opposite or extreme (work and life, money and faith, rest and focus, proactive and reactive.) The integration of Temperance creates a middle path, a more balanced and temperate way, shades of gray to the extremes of black and white. The clay, water, motion of the wheel, and inspiration combine to create something new, built from the fusion of the separate elements. In tarot, Temperance is also associated with divine intervention, suggesting guidance and support amidst its placement after Death, and before the Devil and Tower.
Questions to consider:
- What are you being asked to balance?
- What are the risks and rewards of not diversifying your focus?
- What do you want to add, mix or subtract to improve the quality of your life, product, or experience?
- What evidence lets you know that you are supported on your path?
